10 Ways to Enjoy Your Wedding Planning and Focus on What Matters

Congratulations! You have said Yes to the love of your life in the most magical season of the year. You’ve been spending the last couple of months floating in a romantic dream spreading the news through your Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp groups in the most original way, giving the happy news to your family, co-workers and even your neighbours. It is time to get yourself together and start planning your wedding, to focus on what truly matters and enjoy it.

We know planning the wedding of your dreams can feel pretty overwhelming at first. Maybe you’re working under a tight budget, or maybe as I do, you simply love doing the DIY route. It may be hard work but believe me it is possible to plan your own wedding. Stop worrying and focus on what truly matters.

Set your Budget, and Stick to it

Your budget will be the driving factor for many of your wedding-related decisions, so this should be one of the first things you tackle. Do some research to find out average wedding-related costs in your area. Attend a bridal show or two and make a note of the prices vendors advertise. Or call around to several wedding vendors in your area and ask what different packages cost and what they include. Then, both your fiancé and agree on a budget and post it in a place where you’ll see it often, such as on the fridge.

Stay focused on what truly matters

Wedding Planning isn’t easy! Sure, it’s exciting. There’s lots of fun tasks like finding the perfect wedding dress, deciding on gifts for your wedding party, cake tasting and attending parties in your honor. There’s also a lot of pressure for you to make everyone happy and to make this the “best day ever”, but keep in mind what the day is all about. Sit down with your fiancé and figure out the three most important aspects of your wedding. Prioritize those details and be willing to compromise on the rest.

At the end of the Big day, you’d be married  to your best friend.

Work as a Team With your Fiancé

Be honest, you’ve been planning your wedding day for as long as you can remember.Turning to your fiancé for help along the way  would make wedding planning something fun you do together.

Get yourself a Wedding Planning Agenda

There is no secret how easy it is to plan your wedding on your phone these days thanks to many apps out there, being definitely our favorites Bride Book  and The Knot. But there’s something special about owning a beautiful wedding planning agenda too. Whether you fill it with notes or flip through it before bed, a nice wedding planning agenda makes your upcoming wedding feel that much more real and it’s a wonderful way to treasure your pre-wedding moments and share them with your children later in life.

Don’t rush Into Decisions

You mayfind yourself with the urge to flip through every bridal magazine in sight and book as many vendors as soon as that ring cuddles up to your finger. Remember to take it easy and take it slow. You don’t need to plan everything at once or even everything in the first month or two. Spread your wedding decisions out over the course of 3-4 months and enjoy every step of planning your own wedding!

Make a Wedding Website

A wedding website is probably the best way for bringing your guests together in one virtual place. It’ll make planning your event much easier, and you could let your guests read about your story as a couple, how you met and even look at pictures of your pre-wedding holiday in Patagonia. It can really make your wedding mucho more personal experience for everyone involved. Besides it you can get a wedding website of your very own for free at Zankyou.

Take a mini-moon to do your pre-wedding photoshoot

At some point the tasks on your wedding to-do list will keep piling up with no end in sight. You might want to consider taking a few days off or even taking vacations as a couple before the big day. It’s a great opportunity to have your pre-wedding photoshoot, have some fun and relax. Make your pre-wedding moment memorable with Captourist.

Have Fun!

When the big day finally arrives, it is the time for you and the groom to relax and enjoy being the center of attention. Have in mind that no matter how much planning and hours you put into this project there is always a possibility of something not going the way you planned. So what? Enjoy the day you married your best friend and the love of your life.

Say Thanks!

There are plenty of people you should thank for your wedding, –even if they didn’t give you a physical gift, from the family members who throw you an engagement party to your brides maids and bestmen that were there to help in  many details. Once the wedding is over and you are back from the honeymoon, it is a great idea to send some Thank You Notes or if you have a wedding website you could put up a thank you message along with one of your favorite pictures from your wedding photographer.
